Brinkman Number Equation and Calculator

The Brinkman number (Br) is a dimensionless number related to heat conduction from a wall to a flowing viscous fluid, commonly used in polymer processing.

Eq. 1

Br = µ v_b² / ( k ( T_b - T_o )

Where:

µ = Dynamic Viscosity (Pa-s)
v_b = Velocity at Outer Perimeter (cm/s)
k = Thermal Conductivity (W/cm-K)
T_b = Temperature at Outer Perimeter (K)
T_o  = Temperature at Inner Perimeter (K)
Br = Brinkman Number (dimensionless)
