Solenoid configuration

We want to maximize the reliability of a solenoid valve system handling compressed air at 8 bar.
We can use 2 or 4 solenoid for this system.
The solenoids have 3 ports and 2 positions, 24 V DC.

I know the one source of trouble can be the spurious trips of the electric signal to solenoid. Let's say that spurious trips happen at a rate of 1 every 6 months. An other source of trouble can be the solenoid itself, but I have no data.

What are the ways that a solenoid can fail?
Where can I find reliability data, like MTBF and the like.
Which configuration, in series, or in parallel gives more reliability for the system?
Are four solenoids, more reliable than two, and in which configuration?
Could you direct me to some relative sites?

Use pulse actuated 2 coils valves.
Once you sent a pulse , it will remain at such state , up to yuo send a new pulse to the other coil,
Like a flip flop

Thank you for your answer.
I am not sure that I understand your answer. Could you send a link (showing a diagram, or a photo, or a manufacturer) with your configuration?
Will there be a spring in the solenoid ?
Or there will be one coil on each side-end (totally two coils) of the solenoid and no spring at all?

There are 2 coils , and they remain at each state by it self .

see it JMEBDH-5/2-D-2-ZSR-C by Festo , but it could be any other brand

Can you show or tell us what the pneumatic circuit handle.

for this questions

What are the ways that a solenoid can fail?
Low or high voltage.
Where can I find reliability data, like MTBF and the like.
Whta is MTBF??

Series , to close , parallel if open.
Are four solenoids, more reliable than two, and in which configuration?

The pneumatic circuit handles, instrument air at pressure 8 bar (g). This air gives power to a pneumatic cylinder. The piston is returned by a spring.

Low voltage or high voltage is a reason for a solenoid to fail. But this reason comes from outside the solenoid, I mean this is a problem of power supply TO solenoid. We will take other precautions to verify the reliability of power TO solenoid. In my initial question, I was thinking more of internal failure modes. How can a solenoid fail if we focus only in internal causes? For example can the solenoid "stuck" in one terminal position, or "stuck" in between the two terminal position? Or can the solenoid leak from the body (not the connections) so that it can not operate? Once in a million strokes perhaps? Do the manufacturers give such data?

MTBF= Mean time between failures
