Edit
: is there any information of the behavior of split (lock) washers in seismic zone 4. I am working with a constant tension application using machine screws treaded into structural steel.Brad,I am not familiar with the "seismic zone 4" requirements, however I would have to assume that it deals with vibration. I have done some research and some experimentation with regards to the use split-locks. Many do not recommend these for use on new designs. They recommend other types of washers or lock-nuts or serrated head screws and such. Please review the Bolt Science link and the article regarding vibration loosening.www.boltscience.com and www.boltscience.com/pages/vibloose.htmI hope this info is helpful. Good luck.BJH
