Sounds Confusing - Donot worry for me as well
All these are piston arrangement at diff time
BTDC - Before top dead center
TDC- Top Dead Center
ATDC - After top dead center

Ref - https://www.miata.net/garage/KnowYourCar/S10_Timing.html

I am trying to run two engines connected via chain at same RPM
Someone suggested me time them to TDC/ BTDC

But I really could not understand how would timing would run two engines at same RPM

You are tackling something here that others have found to be very difficult. Good luck!
I think the TDC, BTDC thing comes from the fact that the power in internal combustion engines comes in pulses, not continuously. By offsetting one engine from another you prevent the effect of the power pulses being at the same time.

You cannot time these engines perfectly, one will always be pulling the other.

Are you running both engines on the same drive line? What is the application?
