Hello

I need to determine the 3003 H-14 aluminum equivalent of 304 stainless steel. For instance, I have a .125" thick 304 S/S sheet metal part. I need to determine the thickness of the aluminum sheet metal that will have the same strength as the existing stainless steel part. It's been a while since I've done this and I'm lost. Can anybody please help me get started? Thanks!

Al 3003, H14:
Yiels Strength, MPa=145.
% Elongation, 8-16.
Modulud of Elasticity, GPa 69.
Notched Tensile Strength, MPa 172.
Ultimate Bearing strength, MPa 241.
Bearing Yield Strength, MPa 193.
Poissons Ratio 0.33.
Fatigue Strength, MPa 60.
Shear Modulus, GPa 25.
Shear Strength, MPa 95.

You know that MPa = 1 N/mm2 = 25.4 N/inch_square
you now can compare steel... but what a kind of work it must to do? It change if is only shear, or bending, traction, compression, or together...so on.
