Anybody whom has spent some time on EE trying find any thing soon realizes that we have a really big mess here. There are about 6,400 content documents and articles on Engineers Edge on almost every engineering, design and manufacturing subject under the sun. If you look on this page /Design_Data.shtml , you see that there are approximately 65 submenus on every thing from aircraft hardware to Volumes of Solids.

The only way I can find anything on Engineers Edge is to use the resident search engine - /search/search.php . Honestly, sometimes I get a lot of possible results to sort through.

Engineers Edge can be categorized roughly like this:

Calculators
Career Center
Engineering Articles - 65 sub-menus
Engineering Links
Engineering News Center
Engineering Software and Downloads
Engineering Forum
Engineering / Industry Standards
Free Engineering Magazines
GD&T Training
Engineering and Drafting Store
Online Games
Products and Suppliers Directory

So, the questions of the week are:

How would you organize Engineers Edge content?

How would you help folks to find what they are looking for?

What can we do to make things just better?

If you want to yell at me just use the "eMail Author" link upper left.

Wow, Good question... & important question.

I hope to offer some positive reflection after I think on it.

However, the reason for my reply is to compliment you on the wisdom and logic to ask .... those that use the site.

My first reaction (half baked) is to study other large quantity and successful site formats and maps, making notes of the best and most suitable formats, realizing that some actual methods are patented or copywrited.

I'm partial to soft buttons (menu buttons) that bring up other soft button choices. This way although the site or application may have many layers or forms the user never gets the feeling of complexity. I'm big on USER FRIENDLY, ... and KISS.

The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
