I need to specify a hardness for a spring that is .016 thick 1095 steel. The part is a clip to hold a glass lens on the front of a lamp - there is no serious load requirement. In the past, I have used a temper range of 39-44 HRC for other steel parts, but I am looking for any thought you might have. I do not want to make the spring too hard, as it may break during repeated use. I know that I can try many tempers until I get a winner, but I want to make a good first guess.

Thx.
