Edit

I am going to design an axial bending testing equipment for composite materials. The specimen is a plate.

This equipment is used to analyse the crack propagation due to fatique load.

Experimental setup:
specimen is vertically placed.
the specimen is firmly fixed at its two ends
load is applied by means of crank mechanism at the top

The problem is that i cannot justify the buckling direction when the load is applied.

I need to buckle on both sides alternatively.

for this I NEED A MECHANISM that restricts guides the specimen to buckle in alternate directions, so that fatique (both tensile and compression on either sides of the specimen)
load can be applied

please send me some simple mechanism to satisfy this function.
