I have a situation I am trying to figure out. I have a trailer with 1600lbs tongue weight. Overall weight is 11,200. The axle center is at 115.2" from opsite end of tongue. I would like to be able to figure out how far forward I would have to move the axle center to decrease the tongue weight by 200 lbs.

I could be over-complicating this, but don't we need to know the entire lenght of the trailer and the weight distribution?

The over all length is 335". I know that over all weight distribution can affect it but I am assuming that the number required will be with in a distance where the the distribution is pretty equal.

I'm coming up with 2.1 inches, but whatever it is, it isn't much!

Thank you, but can you tell me how you came up with this answer?

The calculation is incorrect because I assumed the entire mass would be moving which is not true. What portion of the 11,200lb load would you move to change the tongue weight? Once you give this, I'll show the calcs necessary.

Sorry about that...
