I'M WORKING ON A PART MADE FROM AMS6360 4130 CR TUBING. IT HAS A HARDNESS CALLOUT OF HR30T 76-81.5 . TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THIS IS AN ANNEALED CONDITION. THE PART GETS NICKEL PLATED PER AMS 2404 THEN BAKED AT 375° F. FOR 3 HRS. FIRST QUESTION IS , IS HR30T 76-81.5 AN ANNEALED CONDITION? SECOND WHY WOULD IT HAVE TO BE IN THIS CONDITION,IF IN THE END WITH THE NICKEL IT REACH ROCKWELL C 65-70

... Because the nickle or chrome is only, please excuse the expression, "skin deep". Often we want a hard or slick outer surface while we retain a different "substrate" material underneath for properties it provides for the project. Does that help? (Do you realize that posting in all capitals is considered as shouting out your question?)
