What is the parts selaing configuration? Does it ride against a rotating shaft? Static?

i believe it's a floating labyrinth seal, with baffles. i'm not sure, i have a manual, but it covers several types. we are coming down tonite, and having a rep come in to help us figure it out. the rep has said that it might take a few trys before it will seal. i think that's unaceptable. we have already had a fire in our exciter because of the oil leaking. do you have a machine with this type of seal, and have you had any trouble with it. thanks

Have you had success with your seal?
Have you ever heard rumbling from the turning gear?
