hey guys. i'm an upcoming high school senior and am very interested in engineering. I do have some questions though. Do you have to be extremely good at math to become a software or computer engineer? I have made A's in all of my math classes (algebra-pre.cal, taking AP calculus this year) but I study alot, I mean I cant usually just look at a problem and know the answer immediately without showing work like some guys. I'm also good at science (loved AP chemistry) and am taking honors physics this year. Technology is my passion and inventing that technology through programs would be great i think. anyone have any insights? also, do you believe software engineering could take a hit from out-sourcing jobs? thanks any input is appreciated.

Oh yes, I remember the rumors in HS, about the people that never studied, slept in class and always knew the answers!

Let me share a little old-guy wisdom --- impossible! You cannot learn something without study time. Nope, sleeping with the book next to your head doesn't work either.

Physics, math, chemistry, engineering, and software engineering will require that you study very hard - just like the rest of us engineers. Math is a core requirement for any engineering degree. You will likely be required to take a minimum of 12 semester hours (Calculus and Diff. E.).

Engineering is lots of work, however well worth the effort. Just be prepared to spend lots of hours studying.

If it was easy, everyone would be an engineer!

study and study hard and you will get through no matter what... it is true, it does come easier to some people, but they still do study weather they admit it or not.

The only regret i have is not getting my degree upfront... i did a community college thing, and am working on my degree while im working.. it sucks!
