We are cutting the brass strips, but the brass strips are having nickel coating on all the sides. The brass strip cutting cross section sizes are 2.6mm width, 0.4mm thick. Please inform whether the cutting force will change because of the nickel coating present on this brass strip. Nickel coting thickness is 0.015 microns. And note that we are cutting the 20 nos of strips at the same time.

Technically Speaking ,yes there should be a change in the cutting force. and the force on the cutting tool should be increased in the case of a bimetallic or a multilayer strip ,BUT in this case the thickness of the layer is negligible and the surface area sis infinitly simal compared to the ares of the strip (1.04mm^2)>>>surface area of layer, should not alter the cutting force much

Technically, the answer is yes, the force required will increase. However, I don't believe the increase in shear force will be noticable. .015 microns is not much..
