We currently make a pivot pin in our machinery that is a 3/4-10 HCS with a stainless steel sleeve around it. We mill a slot in the sleeve and put a grease zerk in the the bolt to lubricate the area that is subject to wear. I would like to replace this assembly with an oilite bushing to reduce some of the time and cost of making the grease bushing. My question is, will an 1 OD Oilite bushing wear well against stainless steel for the life of the machine.

Some of my parameters are

1) 2 arms would be lifting 3000 pounds max. It is a typical scissor lift scenario, with the bushing being the pivot point.
2) 10,000 cycles is the maximum that the machine would go up/down during during its life.

My first reaction and gut feel is to wonder if the bolt shank and the sleeve and the other hole are good fits. If you start with a loose fit you can't have good wear qualities.

If they are not, the first try I would use is tight fits with very little slop to rattle (anywhere!). Then assemble with grease and do a test group to compare.

Oilite has a crush factor.

I am reaming the hole and then I machine the bushing to fit in order to ensure a tight fit. It sounds like perhaps I should stick with the grease bushing scenario?

Needle Bearings?
You will need the bushings intended to go with the units. and.. you will need room in the material.... worth a look...
