If you are referring to a chain vise that pipefitters use you can search for Ridgid Tools and on their web site there are pictures of several pipe vises. Maytag

I don't know of any pictures of a pipe vise. Some open up like a clam shell and have a latch at the open side with a screw to tighten down on the pipe. Others are a standard bench vise in designed but with deep "V" jaws. Usually one side is seperated by a gap and the other jaw overlaps into it so it can grasp small to however large the vise is sizes of pipe. Does that help? The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
