Hi all, is there some code/formula that I can use to help me size the bolts and number of them (clampling pressure) in a flange of aknown diameter and working pressure

See /torque.htm. The tension in the bolts, is also the clamping force on the flange.

kelly

That part I am hapy with.

What I am trying to do is to identify what total clamping force is needed for a flange to not leak due to a given pressure.

I accept it depends on diameter, number of bolts etc. I believe there is a standard for this, but I am not sure what?
