NEE HELP TO FIND DEPTH OF 1.500 DIA. MODIFIED SQUARE THREAD, .375 PITCH SINGLE START EXTERNAL.

IT IS JUST LIKE SQUARE BOX WITH NO SIDE ANGLE AND HAS 4.50 DEG HELIX ANGLE

hi
if what you have is a square thread its a very old style of thread used for power-transmission purposes but i hope the following will help.
width of the tooth=.5*pitch
width of the tooth space=.5*pitch
depth of thread =.5*pitch
going on the info given ie 1.5od,.375 pitch, the angle worked out at 5'-11 not4.5'

found a bit of info on modified square threads, they are not square but have a 10degree included pressure angle,pitch dia=od-(pitch*.5),the basic width of the crest of the thread =.4563*pitch and the same calc for the basic flat at the root of the thread
