I note in the do's and dont's of corrosion guidelines there is no mention of putting drainage holes at the lower points of an enclosure.

Unless you are doing enclosures which are fully sealed to IP67 type levels this is always good practice. Water always gets into enclosures, you don't want it to stay there.

Even in an IP67 enclosure someone opening it and reclosing it admits moist air which can condense as the temperature drops.

Actualy, within the "Do's", it says "Use low point drains"
I agree with all of your points about moisture getting in enclosures.
