Hi guys,
I been working on a product design which need to comply with IP67 (NEMA 6). Which was; i) totally protected from dust and ii) Protected from temporary immersion in water. The only method I know is to use some o-rings with radial compression for sealing. Anyone who knows more in detail about this method or have other idea to archive above mention criteria, please kindly let me know. Your help would be appreciated.

My company sells an electromechanical unit that is IP67 rated and sealed with an O-ring, so your design sounds viable. In our unit, the diameter of the O-ring equals 72% of the groove height and 115% of the groove depth in which it rests. Hope this helps.

I, too, am working on a IP67-rated design. My product design and test procedure is sound, but I am unsure about the submersion tank. I was planning to build an acrylic tank 4'H X 8" Dia. X 1/2" Thick to test a 3.5" Dia. X 2.25"H electromechanical unit. The joint between the walls and base would be sealed with silicone. Any comments or suggestions to avoid water leakage from the tank? --Karen, Rookie Designer
