Hi,

I'm working on a custom wire connector using set screws. I need some help with determining the minimum thread count on the set screw. Can some one help me out with this?

Thanks,

Your thread count or number of threads on your set screw is determined by the thread call-out and length of your set screw.
For example if you have a .250-20 set screw, you have 20 threads per inch, if your thread length of your set screw is 1/2" you have 10 threads on your set screw (this is a thread length without corner breaks).

I believe this is what you were asking????

Hi Rowzee,

Thanks for the reply, so if I have a given torque requirement to fasten a wire using the setscrew. How do I calculate the tread length required on the setscrew?

thanks,

a rule of thumb

the thread lenght shall be the screw diameter at least
