Hi! I'm new here. I'm installing a pre-glazed curtainwall system on a large project in Chicago.(This is only a very small part of it) It spans from 18' above grade to 70'. There are 4 sections vetically. (about 12' each). Deadload at the sill (concrete), 'slip' connections everywhere else. My drawings show an inward wind load of about 4000 lbs. Sorry I can't be more specific, but my prints are at work. This is on a corner. My drawings show a knife plate of 3/4" thick steel by 12" tall welded (at 5 places) to a 20" round (I thinks it's 3/8 thick) steel column. Is this overkill or what? These are all windloads - nothing hangs from them.
Thanks, Steve

I can't speak for the detail unless I see exactly how it's constructed on the drawings. As for the loadings, corner loads higher up on buildings are much greater than at other areas. It doesn't surprise me that this glazing is taking 2 or more tons of load.
