I need to mount a junction box underneath a channel that can be easily removed. Its alot like mounting a 3" X 8" X 2" box inside an unpside down gutter. Nothing can go through the surface so bolts and nuts are out of the question. Ive come up with a flange design for the top of the lid that can be fastened useing clips. However, it is near impossible to spot weld these clips to the surface. Does anyone know of a good place to find U or Z shaped clips that can be easily spot welded to a surface? Or does anyone have any other ideas as to how to mount this box without using clips? Thanks for any input.

How about an on/off magnetic mount? Similar to a dial indicator base.
