| IP67 water proof production test |  | ||

We spec an electronics enclosure to IP67 which states "Protected from the effects of immersion between 15cm and 1m for up to 30 minutes". My question is what would be a valid test without getting them wet and disassembling them to look for water. Our curent test is to apply a vacuum of >5 in/Hg to a small test hole and hold for a min of 10 seconds.
The construction is alum tube and caps with o-rings. The enclosure (a tube) is about 9 inches long and 1 3/4 OD. It has several connectors and potted LEDs. I am also curious if there is a clever way, maybe a fine powder that reacts or changes color with the water to find entry point of leaks. To help quantify the mentioned test. |
