Why is diesel fuel cars used for long route travelling is it because the diesel fuel is cheap or the engine has got a higher efficiency rate then other fuel engines.

Where can I find information(burning chemistry) for diesel fuels

Most Diesel engines are more fuel efficient than gasoline fueled engines for the rated torque.

I believe Diesel engines are approximately 15 - 25% more economical.
