PLEASE could somebody let me know how I would go about designing a screw conveyor and then perform a stress analysis on it? thank you

We seem to see this question about this time every year... well it seem so...

Here is a brain probe:
If you run a strip of metal between two rollers with one side tighter than the other in such a way as to coin (squeeze) the metal on the tight side the correct amount, you will cold "roll form" a screw sprial. This can be welded to a shaft to form a screw conveyor. It can be done.
