Friction Welding of Tubes

Hi all,

I am working on welding a tube to a cap end. I would like to know is it possible to do friction welding of tubes with flashing coming only in OD.

I beleive it is possible depending on the material, applied loads, ect.. There are other ways to weld tubular parts together using laser, seam and GTAW technics.
