The taper contact used for torque transmission without key in a number of components. Usually the contacts are hydraulically loaded to attain the required contact pressure. In this regard can any one tell what will be effect of poor initial contact on tapers (say 30 to 40% contact)? though the depth of non contact area is approx 50 microns whereas hydraulic expansion of joint is about 200 microns?
