Hello Members,

I am working for a company for which my assignment is to suggest a method for 3D visulaisation and mark-up. We are using catia V5 R 12.

We have short listed for 2 alternatives

1) Use a peice of software which can support all major CAD formats i.e CATPart, CATProduct, CATDrawing, MODEL,DWG,PRT, ASM, PRT etc. We found that Autovue from Cimmetry are doing that.

2) Use JT format from UGS PLM as a standard neutral format and adopt team center visualisation products for viewing and collaboration.

But Stucked up here. I am unable to finalise this selection. Can anybody have some suggestions. please post your valuable suggestion in.

Advance Thanks

With kind Regards
Tekula

Well,  I have worked with folks whom have been trying to define a review/markup etc. tool.  I don't believe they considered cimmetry or the autoview product because of cost.

They did decide to use Adobe PDF as a review and markup tool.  I helped to test the distribution function however, had some serious challenges with the integrity an function of this part of the software.  In general, PDF files work pretty good as a review median.  Of course, everybody in the review cycle does need Adobe proffessional to markup a model / drawing.  I beleive all of the major CAD companies supply or sell some sort of review/markup software which (only) compliments thier software.

Let me (all of us) know what you conclude.

Hello Cragyon,

Thank you very much for your reply. Sir, I did not understand your mail contents completely as you have mentioned about Adobe Professional, But to my knowledge Adobe is not offering software for 3D Viewer. Please let ne know if they offer anything of such kind.

I had just now surfed Adobe official site but could not find anything as said.

Onemore point which wonders me is that you said they have decided Adobe where as I am talking about my company which you might be unware.

Anyway Thanks for mail and hope will remain in contact with you and can utilise your experiences.

With Regards

Tekula
