Storage Vessel Idea

Why are all the storage vessels be it pressure vessels or simply liquid carrying vessels both underground and on the ground are cylinderical in shape why not square or rectangular why is that?

A cylindrical or spherical shape is more efficient structurally for something under internal or external pressure.  In other words, for the same pressure and volume of fluid to be held, a spherical or cylindrical container will use less material and do the same job as a box shape.

There are many variations to this based on specific circumstances, but this is the basic idea.
