I am doing a design project at a university and need the standard dimensions of a 45 gallon steel drum. If someone knows a link to direct me to or even a drum of their own, i would appreciate the help of gettin the dimensions. I need the overall height, outer diameter generally and at the ribs. If the thickness is also known that would be great. Oh and the distance between the ribs. I am doing a design of a forklift accesory to carry and turn these 45 gallon drums. Need help badly. Anyone?

As this is a university project, I suggest you visit someplace where there are steel drums of the configuration you need to collect data on and collect the data. This would serve you much better in providing the mental image required to design the best device, plus in viewing the real thing you may learn of an unexpected difference in the shape which must be compensated for.
