I built an imported aircraft from a kit that used all metric hardware for construction. I have been searching for methods to compare strength of these bolts to american an hardware with no luck. Most of the bolts in the kit were marked 8.8 metric bolts others including the wing strut bolts had no markings at all? I sure would like to know the structual integrity of this hardware. Any feedback on this subject would be appreciated.

This comparison is listed in the Machine Design Handbook (which I don't have here at home) but the following table was found on the web. The 8.8 metric is equivalent to a grade 5.

Hex cap screw strength comparison
