Hi again! Please first take a look at the attachment. I'm trying to bore the corroded 4" w.i. pipe out of this 30" thick concrete buttress so I can put some new 4" carbon in. Any suggestions on how to do that/what tool to use? Also, I need to be ensured that the space between the o.d. of the new pipe and the concrete bore is water tight. Any suggestions on what to use as a filler and how much space to allow between the concrete bore and the pipe o.d.? Thanks Again!!!

Well, there are large diameter concrete boring machines and tools. I don't know where to tell you to look or how to obtain one of setups - rent, lease, hire. Technically, I believe the concrete would need to be bored oversize or larger than the corroded pipe. Then a sleeve and grout installed then your graphite pipe. You might be able to rent a large diameter carbide drill, magnetic base drill motor and anchor a steel plate and physically drill out the pipe. - thinking out loud.. 4" is not that large.

I'd cut it out with a plasma cutter. Cut strips length-wise etc. to make it easier to remove in pieces. You'll need a helper with skinny arms for the deep part. |
