I am not an engineer but I am trying to build one of those "Balance a belt on your finger tip" wood blocks.  I made one in technology in 8th grade but, over the years, lost the template the teacher gave me.  Maybe someone could e-mail me the specs or a diagram or at least point me in the right direction to finding it.  I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks!

OK ... take an old diner fork, pass the belt through the tines with the fork right side up as when you eat. Make the belt pass up between the outer most two tines and the ones next to them, so the belt wants to go up through the outer two openings. Do this in about the middle of the belt. Now rest the handle of the fork (right side up) on a tall object. It appears to break the law of gravity, but only proves that the end of the fork is at point above the center of gravit of the belt. The belt should be fairly stiff.

I have seen two different shapes.  One sort of looks like a piece pipe, the other looks like this shape below:

                                       ____________

                     |  \              |                       |

                     |     \           |                       |

                     |        \        |                       |

                     |           \     |                       |

__________ |              \  |                       |

|                                                              |

|                                                              |

|                       _____________            |

When you place between the triangle and big square, you can balance the block on your finger tip.

I just want to balance a belt on a block of wood.  Somebody must remember how to do it or know someone that does.  Anybody?

Sorry, I don't know, off hand, how to do this, nor do I know of any plans.  I'm only posting to tell you to have patience with this forum... as you can see by looking at the dates of the posts, this place doesn't see too much traffic.

You might try another forum of a different focus even, that just has more traffic.
