Edit
Doug,Depending on the particular holes being specified within the feature control frame, referencing a hole pattern is not incorrect. Often, one will see this application when functional check tools (GO NO-GO) gages are used.: I have seen this callout on many drawings and it has always struck me as being odd. Its a true position callout with only ONE datum reference that refers to a 3 hole pattern. The 3 hole pattern itself is the B datum.: |O|Ø0.5(M)|A| 3 holes: where O is true position symbol and A is the datum plane. Is this callout missing something, or is it : trying to convey something OTHER then a true position.: Is this just a mistake on the designers part?: Please help.:
