Why is a Class 2 UN plug gages major pitch dia exactly the same as a Class 3 UN plug gage major pitch dia. This standard practice causes one to lose some of the lower pitch dia tolerance allowed to the class 2 box thread. How and why did this gage tolerancing practice become the industry gage making standard?
