So a 400 lb flange is rated for 400 psi?

: : I HAVE A QUESTION. SOME TIMES PIPE FLANGES ARE REFERRED TO IN THE FOLLOWING TERM i.e. 400LB FLANGE. 300LB FLANGE, ETC. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TERM Xlb FLANGE.

: Flanges are categorized by size, type (loose, integral, weld-neck etc.) and pressure rating. The lb designation in the US designation for pressure rating. A larger lb rating means a larger allowable pressure rating.
