I am an Aeronautical Engineer and have been using Solidworks for about 3 years. A solid modeler I know that used Pro-E for 7 years has completely switched to Solidworks. Solidworks 2003 is coming out next week and it is even more powerful. Catia owns Solidworks, and interface with Catia files is important to me. The cost and ease of use is really a no-brainer.
