I created a small spreadsheet to calculate the parameters of a single helical torsion spring.
Input - wire diameter, mean coil diameter, #coils, material constants
Output - max torque, twist angle, spring rate, diameter reduction
It uses standard formulae from a Shigley and Mischke textbook. Email me and I will send the spreadsheet to you.
