I need to find a good resource for designing a regular taper shank twist drill. Its for my Tool Engineering class. Other info: Workpiece SAE 1020 steel, Tool: HSS, Diameter: 1", Steady vertical feed, Depth of hole, 2". I have tried the library at U of Toledo, but havent found anything beyond general design considerations. I need a step by step tutorial basically. I have a few books giving general calculation, but am not sure how to apply them to this specific situation considering the various design constraints. Thanks for the info.
