: What is the real difference between angularity and profile of a surface. Are'nt they interchangable, same thing?

: There is a hierarchy to GD&T. In general first is location then orientation followed by size and form. Profile of a surface is a locational control provided basic dimensions are used to describe a feature relative to a datum reference frame. If a feature is located, its orientation (angularity) is also controlled to that degree. Angularity could be added as a refinement if needed. Angularity alone is only an orientation control and does not locate, even if basic dimensions are present. A good rule of thumb is to use profile of a surface first, rather than angularity.
