New Chloramine Resistant Oring Materials Seal Water Systems

Parker Hannifin’s Seal Group has released two new chloramine resistant materials for use in water system sealing applications.EJ274-70 and EJ273-70 are 70-durometer EPDM based polymer formulations. (with and without internal lubrication)

The new EPDM compounds can help safeguard against leakage and contamination in potable water systems. They are available in a wide variety of configurations, including standard or custom O-rings and molded shapes.

As water treatment facilities change from free chlorine to chloramine as a primary means of disinfecting potable water, it is increasingly important to ensure that seals for water applications are chloramine resistant to ensure long seal life, and reduce warranty issues caused by premature seal failure.

EJ274-70 has undergone rigorous testing to qualify for their listing under NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) International’s Standard 61.Both materials are ideal for use in bathroom faucets, kitchen fixtures, drinking fountains, water filtration systems, water meters and sprayers, connector hoses, water coolers/heaters and other similar applications that come in contact with municipal water.

An operating unit of the Parker Hannifin Corporation, the Seal Group’s worldwide network consists of multiple manufacturing locations and distributor and service center locations in nine countries. The Seal Group has a strong global presence in energy, oil and gas, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor and other industries. Around the corner or around the globe, Parker’s Seal Group is there with solutions to tough sealing problems.
