I'm trying to figure out a way to determine oil content in compressed air. My plant has some old Joy (200 hp rotary screw) compressors that seem to be dumping oil into the downstream dessicant dryer, fouling the dessicant. I need to find a filter that will prevent this from happening, but I need to know the oil content of the air going into the dryer in order to spec out a filter.

Does anyone know a fairly "quick and dirty" way to measure oil content in compressed air?
Also, does anyone know what typical oil carryover from an oil-lubricated compressor would be, both in normal operation and in the even of a separator failure?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
