I am involved in manufacturing, draughting, designing.

Does anyone have any information on metric taper threads. I have a metric taper thread, pitch 4mm taper angle 5 degrees, both internal and external, going from about 160 to 152mm

Is there a standard for taper threads such as these, ie angles etc.

I need information such as thread depth etc, ie information a machinist would need to manufacture.

Can someone explain the theory to me of how they fit/locate together and why a taper thread would be used in preference to a parallel thread.
