Description:

This sheet shows how to implement a good quality linear current source for the 3080 OTA. Start by setting the constants Vin (max control voltage) and R2 (control voltage input impedance). Then read values of R1 down the left hand column, and values of R3 across the top row. The resulting current, Iout, is shown in the table. Decide which values of R1 and R3 to use by remembering the 3080 performs best if Iout is 1mA or less. In any event, Iout must be less than 2mA to avoid damaging the chip.
