They had suggested a method wherein we have to renormalize 1700F for about an hour by cool air. Then heat it over 1600F for one hour, quench it in oil, and them temper 570F for about 3-6 hours. It would get us a piece of part at 53-55RC. But we could get nothing other than a distorted piece of metal at 45RC after this ordeal. Is there any other alternative method for this? Or could someone please explain the correct procedure to reduce distortion. Thanks in advance!
