    Fire pump troubleshooting

We conducted maintenance on a fire pump and we found out that the motor of the pump is running at a high ampere rating exceeding it's rated amperage stated in the name plate.
is it advisable to throttle the suction line in order to meet the rated ampere?
    thanks

High Amperage would mean high load or a failing motor. You need to determine what is causing the high current flow and determine what needs to be done not work around it.

I assume that the equipment needs to NOT fail when fighting a fire.

Does the insulation resistance of the motor also matters?
The data for insulation resistance = 160mega ohms
the vibration data are good, the bearings are good.

What does the motor manufacturer specifications indicate?

    In the name plate:
    3ph, 440v, 60amps
    actual data:
    v: 435,433,436 volts
    I: 80amps
    ir: 160, 160, 160 megaohms
    .
the rated resistance is not indicated in the nameplate
