Do you have a drawing?
I am designing a folding or collapsible stage. There are four units of 3 4x8 platforms each, hinged together such that all three face up when unfolded:
Cx
B => C x B x A
xA
(x = hingepoint)
A is attached to a mobile trailer. B & C have fold out legs. Once unfolded all are locked together with coffin locks.
I want to implement a system to counterbalance the platforms while they are being unfolded to make it both easier and safer to set up. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.

Does this help?
Roughly what does each segment weigh?
I assume that 4x8 is 4-feet x 8-feet?
Are you are putting any extra weight once the platform is extended?
