Description of Calculator inputs:

Units:  Inches or SI (Metric)

Modulus of Elasticity:  (Young's Modulus) in tension and compression is the rate of change of unit stress with respect to unit strain for the condition of uniaxial stress within the proportional limit.  For most materials the modulus of elasticity is the same for tension and compression.

(W) Applied Load (lb/N):  Load applied to beam in the selected units "Inches or SI (Metric)"

(L) Length of beam (in/mm): Enter the length of beam in the desired units.

(X) Distance from Support (in/mm): Enter desired distance from beam support for deflection calculations

Distance from Neutral Axis (in/mm):  Enter a distance from the neutral axis of beam for stress calculation:

Description of Calculator outputs:

Deflection at Point X (in/mm): Beam deflection at distance given "X'

Stress at Point X (psi/kPa): Stress  reported in the selected units.

Deflection at Center of Beam (psi/kPa): Deflection at center of beam in the selected units.

Moment of Inertia: Calculated moment of inertia derived from section modulus and distance from neutral axis.
