Hi Nile welcome to the forum.

I don't use any software. No matter what size project I'll simply create a concept and get actual costs/quotes for all components (purchased and/or fabricated) and add in any labor.

It takes time and for me the most accurate.

You must go through the whole process mentally from concept to roll-out. Take notes, toss a fake model on the CAD to help visualize all aspects, keep an Excel sheet (which evolves better each time), and get quotes or catalog prices on all hardware and off-the-shelf components. Then add for labor, shipping, and mark up.... then hope you didn't screw up...

Nile...there is probably a lot of software out there...but by the time you enter all the variables (parts costs etc..) into the software that randy and I have mentioned you'll have a pretty good excel spreadsheet.

Here's a simple one from a fixture. Labor is not on here because it's a fixture and I'm the labor.

Larger projects...for labor simply add a row in for various assy and test etc..

The spreadsheet is set up to add a cost and the sum automatically totals.

Other folks here may have some other samples & ideas
