Urethane sheets and sheeting is considered a durable material able to resist extreme environments and abrasion. Urethane has several advantages over conventional plastics and elastomers, increased strength, toughness, and versatility. Standard thickness are available in the range from .031" up to approximately 1", larger sheet Urethane is available by custom order. Urethane is also available as film, thermoset, and as an adhesive compound. Urethane sheets can be manufactured in many colors, such as tan, black, red, yellow, white, and natural or un-pigmented. Cast and Sheet Urethane products are commonly available in size tolerances of +/- .010 or less over distances of les than 24".

Urethane sheet and sheeting can be readily machined using conventional machine tool methods. Urethanes may also be sanded using conventional techniques. Rough cutting is effectively facilitated using band, circular, or jig type saws.

Some feature and application advantages are:

  • Available in several hardness's ranging from 60 to 100 durometers.

  • High resistance to abrasion and impact, often used when significant or some friction is present.

  • Resistant to many chemical compounds

The following are typical standards associated with the definition of performance properties of Urethane cast sheet.

ASTM D-638 - Elongation at Break %, Tensile Strength Yield (psi), Tensile Modulus

ASTM D-790 - Flexural Strength

ASTM D-256 - Izod Impact

ASTM D-648-82 - Heat Deflection Temperature
